Duels are the most honest way to settle who shoots better: a small arena, one opponent, no teammates to blame the loss on. The mode has been on CYBERSHOKE since November 2023 and has picked up plenty since — its own map pool, weapon settings, private duels with a friend, and now a 2v2 format where one player can take on two.

Servers and live player counts are on the DUELS mode page.

What is DUELS in CS2

DUELS is a 1v1 mode played on small arenas. You get dropped into a zone with a single opponent, play a short series, and the winner moves on through the arenas. Weapons and round counts are configurable and results feed a leaderboard — so duels are both an aim warm-up and a mini tournament that never really ends.

Duel arenas are carved-out pieces of familiar maps — the fight starts immediately.

How to play 1v1 in CS2 on CYBERSHOKE

Join a DUELS server and you're queued for an arena automatically. Controls and settings live in the graphical menu under the !duel command: pick your fight configuration, weapon and rules there. There's also a separate ARENA MAPS category — arenas built for duels, with more slots so the queue moves faster.

How to challenge a friend to a private duel

A private duel is a separate fight against a specific player. The !duel menu covers nearly everything:

  • Weapon — from the classics to "weapon of choice" and duels with a random gun each round.
  • Rounds needed to win — a short series or a full match.
  • Who can invite you — private duel invites from everyone, friends only, or nobody.
  • Rematch — replay right after the end without setting it all up again.

Two more conveniences: a duel extends automatically after a map change, and the HUD shows how many rounds are left to win.

How to play 2v2 in CS2 and take on two players alone

On 21 June 2026 the 2v2 format got its update. You build a team through an invite, then pick your target in the menu: against a team (2vs2) or against a player (1vs2). The second one is the fun part — one strong player takes on a duo to see whether the skill gap is real. It all opens with the !duels command.

What maps CS2 duels are played on

The pool was built over years: Dust II and Inferno first, then Anubis, Overpass and Nuke, the dedicated duels_ancient_1x1 arena and custom maps like am_kingdom. Cache arrived in May 2026 — the one plenty of players came back for. The separate ARENA MAPS category was widened to 20 slots, so you barely wait in queue.

Where to train aim and 1v1 gunfights in CS2

In March 2026 duels got separate servers for strong players: entry requires 6500+ points on the global RETAKE leaderboard, 2000+ Faceit Elo or PRO status. The idea is simple — a duel should be a duel, not target practice on newcomers.

The rest of the warm-up modes are on the CYBERSHOKE CS2 page: deathmatch, retake, KZ, BHOP and SURF.
