Valve shipped three CS2 updates in August 2026 — on the 3rd, the 12th and the 19th. No sweeping gameplay changes, but a movement bug near walls got fixed, Cache received another round of patches, and the Workshop scripting API grew noticeably. Here is what changed.
The quickest way to feel the movement change is on servers that run the current build: CYBERSHOKE modes update alongside the game.
What changed in CS2 on 19 August
The latest patch is short. Two Workshop maps, Boulder and Poseidon, pulled their newest versions from the authors. The one change that affects everyone: a case where player speed was too high while moving against a wall has been fixed.

The wall speed bug explained
Hugging a wall could, in certain situations, accelerate a player beyond the intended speed. In practice that produced unexpectedly fast peeks and broke familiar timings — an opponent showed up earlier than the footsteps suggested.
In a casual game the difference was easy to miss. At the level of rehearsed utility it was not: whether a flash lands in time depends on how fast the peek happens. Movement along walls is now calculated the same way as anywhere else.
What was patched on Cache
Cache replaced Overpass in the active duty pool in early July, and updates keep polishing it. On 3 August the map got its geometry gaps closed, collision fixed in several spots, flickering removed on some assets, and the boost in Outside A taken out.
That last one changes A-site executes: the setup where a teammate boosted a player onto an outside position no longer works. If your team drilled it, the execute needs rebuilding.

Grenades no longer fly through walls
The 3 August patch also closed a long-standing bug: grenades could be thrown through level geometry. It looked like a lineup that should not have worked — a smoke or molotov ending up behind a wall with no path there.
Spots like that spread through clip compilations and made their way into team prep, so a share of borrowed lineups simply stopped working after the patch. If you learned one from a month-old video, test it before trusting it in a match.
What map makers got
The largest part of August's patches was aimed at the Workshop rather than players. The scripting API gained player tracing, weapon pickup and drop events, bomb explosion events, grenade projectile spawning, and extra data on grenade bounces — a script can now tell what the grenade actually hit.
None of that shows up in a normal match, but it makes life easier for authors of custom modes and maps, which usually means more interesting community mechanics down the line.
The 12 August update
The patch between the other two was the smallest: Workshop maps Fachwerk and Shelter pulled their current versions from the authors. Nothing else changed.
FAQ
What changed in CS2 on 19 August 2026?
A fix for player speed being too high when moving against walls, plus Workshop updates for Boulder and Poseidon.
What was removed on Cache?
The boost in Outside A, along with geometry gaps being closed, collision fixes and flickering removed on some assets — that was the 3 August patch.
Do old lineups still work after the August patches?
Not all of them. Grenades no longer pass through level geometry, so lineups that relied on that bug stopped working.
How many CS2 updates were released in August 2026?
Three: on 3, 12 and 19 August. None of them changed balance or economy.
